D. SAITO

A team of talents at SSS,
taking on ambitious projects together

UI/UX Div.D. SAITO

ABOUT

After graduating from university, joined Dentsu Isobar Inc. (now Dentsu Digital),
working as both an engineer and a designer for about five years. After a stint as a front-end engineer at Ikyu Corporation,
moved to THE SUN STRATEGIC SOLUTIONS Inc. (SSS), where he now serves as Executive Officer and UX Engineer.

Two years of side work that earned "trust" and a "track record"

What made you decide to move to SSS?

There were two main reasons.
The first was a passionate offer from our CTO, Sehoon Lee, a former colleague from my Dentsu Isobar days, which got me interested in the work SSS does and its vision. We knew each other well, so I think he reached out with real technical conviction, along the lines of "I want Saito to take this on." The second was that I had already had opportunities to help out with SSS's work before joining, so I had a reasonable sense of the members and the kind of work involved. I mainly helped with parts of production projects, and through those projects I got to know the members and gained a deeper understanding of the work. I was also able to contribute to those projects and leave a good impression during that period, which earned me "trust" and a "track record" with SSS. I suspect that was one of the reasons Lee made me the offer.

Long-term engagements happen because it is the "people" who are valued

Tell us about SSS's business.

Our main business areas are production, media, consulting, system development, and infrastructure management. Although we categorize them into five areas, they are closely related, and our strength is that we can support clients comprehensively.
For example, after a series of discussions with a company that asked us to build a website, we often end up proposing an app as well.

Does SSS have any other strengths?

Work brings more work.
Thankfully, SSS today is able to sustain itself without doing any sales activity. I believe that is because we give our all to what our clients ask of us.
As a result, clients come back with "Could SSS take on this project too?", and that leads to referrals as well. By moving forward steadily, we have started receiving projects from major domestic manufacturers through word of mouth.
SSS values walking alongside clients over the long term and growing together, rather than "build it and move on." This is very different from a typical production company, and I am proud to say it is a strength unique to SSS.

Broad discretion, and an environment where each person's talent shines

What do you find appealing about SSS?

First, because we are a small, elite team, each individual has a lot of discretion and can work with their own established identity.
Our website refers to our members as "talents," and true to that word, SSS is a workplace where every person can stand on their own as a talent.
Because individual discretion is so broad, if you can make a solid proposal, you can put the technologies and skills you want to adopt straight to use.
Second, all members communicate well with one another.
Everyone, including the president, has an equal voice, so anyone can propose things like "this software is useful, let's adopt it," and it is easy to say "I see it differently" in response to what the president says. And finally, it is an environment where you can learn.
If what you want to do matches what the company needs, you are allowed to attend seminars, go to school, buy books, and so on.
If you have your own goals and the drive to pursue them, there is no limit to how much you can learn here, and I think that is another big draw.
